Add/Modify/Delete Account Administrators

The features described in this article are only available to Analytics account administrators.

In Google Analytics, account administrators have the same privileges as account owners, with access to all reports, the ability to modify Analytics settings and add users, as well as create profiles, filters, and goals.

To transfer the ownership of an Analytics account, ask the person who created the account (or any other administrator on the account) to add the intended new owner as an administrator. The new administrator (or any other administrator on the account) can then delete the original account administrator. Each Analytics account must have at least one administrator.

You can add as many account administrators as you like.

To add an account administrator:

  1. Click the Admin tab at the top right of any page in Analytics.
  2. Click the account to which you want to add an administrator.
  3. Click the Users tab.
  4. Click + New User.
  5. Enter the email address for the user's Google Account. Separate multiple addresses by commas or spaces.
  6. Select Administrator below the email address field.
  7. Click Create User to create the new user.

You can modify the settings for an administrator to demote that administrator to a user with read-only privileges for specific profiles. For information about configuring user settings, see Add/Modify/Delete Users.

You can also delete administrators from an account. Remember, though, that each account must have at least one administrator.

To delete an account administrator:

  1. Click the Admin tab at the top right of any page in Analytics.
  2. Click the account from which you want to delete an administrator.
  3. Click the Users tab.
  4. In the list, look for the email address of the administrator you want to delete.
Click delete to remove the administrator's access altogether from the account.
    OR
Click settings to edit the account settings, then select User, and click Save.
